When it feels like you're failing, take a look at how far you've come. Even when everything feels impossible, remember how much you had to achieve to get to where you are today.
Part of having goals and keeping focussed is that you're always wanting to improve, progress and overcome the next hurdle. Whether we like it or not, success is a process, a process that includes ups and downs. Being pushed a few steps back will always feel like a kick in the teeth, especially when you're trying so hard.
For me, two months ago I was still in hospital, I had 8weeks of no riding, lost a lot of strength (not even being allowed to leave my bedside due to covid restrictions.) I was desperate to just see the horses and be in the fresh air.
Two months later, and I've won a few classes back competing with Daisy, I'm now fully TPN trained, gaining strength prior to my surgery - there are so many positives.
So yes, today I was eliminated before we reached the 4th fence in our class and I felt like a complete plonker. It was wet, raining and Daisy was having NONE of it!! Some days just don't go to plan, but when I'm able to stand back and look at the bigger picture , this is just one small blip, one small piece to a big puzzle.
As with all hiccups they will pass and things will improve, even if they don't feel like it at the time. But for now, I'm doing the sport I love, and it's a whole lot easier to keep trying when you're doing something you love. #FindAWayNotAnExcuse
If anyone else is on a 'not so good' day like me today, do yourself a favour and remember just how far you've come to get to where you are.
